Disaster Relief Funds

Watchtower is also effective in compelling those that they help to send in their insurance checks. The work needed is done with volunteer labor and often donated materials. So even during a disaster relief effort, Watchtower makes money. True not everyone has the proper insurance, but still why not just do the favor and let people keep the insurance money?

Is this the Kathleen DeSoto that was the lead attorney in the Montana case (35 million judgment)?
by Billzfan23 incurious to know if this is the kathleen desoto that was on the defense (watchtower) side during last week's 35 million dollar judgment for the plaintiffs in the child molestation case.
joel taylor and don herberger (spelling) were also on the borg's side in this case.. https://www.garlington.com/attorneys/kathleen-l-desoto.shtml.
does anyone know if that kathleen desoto has worked with the organization before, or was she just retained because she's local to montana and very highly ranked?.

Under Montana law WT attorneys would have to work under/with a Montana attorney.

WATCHTOWER Is Trying To Put Cameras In All of Their Kingdom Halls
by minimus inone of my best friends is in the security business.
he told me the other day of how the watch tower has been in contact with his good friend and business associate.
evidently they are inquiring about putting cameras into every kh so that they can do 24 hour monitoring.

I don’t think there is anything to see here. Well except on the cameras.
Not a bad idea. Cameras deter vandalism. Even when the cameras are fake. The KHs I attended constantly got vandalized. During the meetings cars were keyed or car windows smashed. Specifically cars parked in the neighborhood because the lot was full.
I cant imagine anybody wants to watch meetings that isn’t part of the congregation. I don’t think it’s like some big brother episode. Probably more like grandma can call in on the phone and watch billy give a talk. They are trying to get more high tech. Makes sense to me. From a security and meeting attendance increase standpoint. Nothing nefarious.

The administrative costs are funded by donations. Everything they do is donation based whether it is time, goods, assets or money.
Im sure they make interest on money in the bank too and profit from flipping property.
So they are not being forthright? Can’t it just be spun one way or the other?

What is the issue? Wouldn’t all of it be considered donations? Whether the actual supplies or the expenses involved collecting or distributing it? Even if you considered it administrative, aren’t those efforts supported by donations?

1.6 billion with donations and estate sales coming in could pay for a lot of 35m settlements.
The demise is adherents realizing that they are donating to protect pedophiles and not a “world wide preaching(print publishing and real estate flipping) work” and checking out.

You Bet Your Life
by DNCall init is said that life is a gamble.
when you join a religion, you are wagering some portion of your life.
you may choose not to risk too much.

I never joined a religion. I was compelled to be a part of one from birth by my parents. My baptism was not a choice, it was compulsory if I wanted a happy family life. Studies show that children generally follow the faith beliefs of parents.
Fortunately I was part of a religion where youth frequently leave the religion.
I was atheist since birth. There is no other explanation. I never believed. Ever.
Like Hawking my inquiries were my devotion, inquiries into all religions and religious books to validate my gut feelings. I wasn’t disappointed.
Am I gambling with my life? Should I safely claim agnosticism? No. I live, I attempt to do good for myself and others, not out of fear or for some devine reward, I am at total peace that when I die that is it.
The gamble has already been made. I was one of a billion sperm to reach the egg. I won the lottery. Everything else is gravy.
